Is it worth repairing an printer?
Is it worth fixing a printer? As much as you may love your printer fixing a printer almost always will cost more than than buying a new printer. It may be worth bringing it in the store for a free assessment, but sinking money into printer repairs is not recommended. Although replacing consumable parts like drums and imaging units are certainly worth replacing.

Canon Error Messages
Check the indicator lights of your Canon printer whether it is blinking in a specific pattern. Next look up in your manual or the Canon.ca website to see the corresponding error code that matches the number of times the light blinks. The manual will then give you are reason why your printer is producing the code and what the resolution might be. This manual also gives explanations for number & letter codes displayed as well. The Canon manual and website will have troubleshooting guides if your printer isn't displaying any specific error code but a problem you want resolved.

Printer types
What are the two main types of printers?
The most common types of printers you find on the market are inkjet printers and laser printers. Inkjet printers use a liquid ink which is sprayed on the paper to produce prints and laser printers use a a fine powder that melts onto the paper to produce prints. Inkjet printers are commonly sold for home use mainly due to their low purchase cost. Laser printers are more frequently purchased by businesses since their cartridge capacity is usually much larger. Both types of printers can be used in either environment.
